I had some very exciting news this week (this kind of thing never happens to me!).

I was going to tell you all the back story to how we got to this point but I think i’ll just cut to the chase…

Matt and I are finalists (1 of 3 couples!) in a fantastic competition to win our wedding photography by an amazing photographer called Annamarie Stepney! And we desperately need your help as we need people to vote for us to win!

So I would be forever grateful to you if you pop over to Annamarie’s blog, read the competition instructions in the first post, and then pop down to the second post where you can read all about our wedding (and engagement story!) and then vote by commenting on the post about us on her blog – it will only take you a minute, I promise! Just remember you can only vote once and  you need to say “I vote for these lovely people” somewhere in your comment.

This is probably a good time to reveal something else I’ve been keeping quiet for a little while until the right time (now seems pretty good!) – Matt and I are planning on having our wedding in Marrakech!

That’s a photo of me in Marrakech last year and you can see a collage of my favourite photos I took here – we loved the city: bustling, colourful and a bit gritty on the outside, but once you step inside the buildings they’re absolutely beautiful, peaceful places.

We love it.

Thank you guys so much for voting!! It would absolutely make my big day if I was able to have such an incredible photographer document it (and imagine the awesome scrapbooking I could do with such great photos!)

Now that Summer has definitely come to an end over here in the U.K, I thought it would be fun to look back on the season in photos and take note of what was going on at the time. I think it will be a great record in years to come when I’m looking back on these wonderful years living overseas. So here we go…

I travelled to:

Australia
I went over to be Maid of Honour at a friend’s wedding in Brisbane and ended up going to visit a good friend down in Sydney for a night on my way home as well – I miss them both a lot and who knows how many years it will be until I see either of them next. The photo above was taken at Taronga Zoo in Sydney.

Ireland
We hired a car and did a short road trip around a bit of Ireland – from Dublin across to Galway, down to Cork, then back to Dublin (via Blarney Castle to kiss the Blarney Stone!). We stopped into our favourite pub in Dublin on the last day for a couple of pints of Guinness – yum!

Greece
Our proper ‘summer’ holiday was a trip to the islands of Santorini and Paros in Greece. We had hot weather, amazing scenery, lots of swimming, cocktails and such delicious food. – the perfect holiday!

I listened to:

My most-listened to new album was ‘Sign No More’ by Mumford & Sons, who I also saw at the Hop Farm Festival in Kent along with Bob Dylan. It was such a fun, laid-back festival and all the music was great…must remember to bring a hat next time – it was so ridiculously hot!

I read:

Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse & Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer – OK it was inevitable I was going to have to read these. As I mentioned in another post I read them on my flights to/from Australia and was completely addicted straight away. Oh…and I’m Team Edward in case you were wondering :p

Apathy For The Devil by Nick Kent – this is one of Matt’s books but I really like rock & roll biographies as well so I read it after him. Kent was a music journalist with NME in the 1970’s, so it has lots of very interesting behind-the-scenes stories from one of my favourite eras in music.

I watched:

I saw Eclipse and Inception at the cinema this Summer – Inception was great (I love Christopher Nolan’s movies) and I can’t wait to get it on DVD when its out. Eclipse was fun, it was the first Twilight movie I’ve seen at the movies and I went along with a girlfriend. I thought it was hilarious when the girls in the audience started cheering when Jacob took his shirt off and booing at Edward…I think I’m a little too old for this!

In terms of TV, Matt and I are watching the final season of The Sopranos. We started watching about one episode a week from the beginning awhile ago, as neither of us watched it when it was on TV. We’re nearly at the end, and I’m going to be so sad when it finishes – I realise I’m about 10 years too late to the party on this but it’s the BEST television show ever!

Early in the summer we started watching Six Feet Under from the beginning as well so we’re about a season into that, which I’m really enjoying too…at least we’ll have something to watch when Sopranos withdrawl kicks in!

I wore:

A really cheap pair of leather sandals from Primark were my absolute favourites this summer – they were so comfy from the first wear, I think you can see them in the photo of me in Australia above. Other than that, I could be found most days wearing either shorts and a stripy top, with a light scarf in the evening or a summery dress. My favourite summer evening dress to wear was a gorgeous maxi dress I got back in NZ. I never got round to buying the hat I said I would buy about a billion times. Oh well.

I scrapped:

My favourite layout from the Summer

As well as finally finishing 2009’s Learn Something New Everyday album, I scrapped photos from Santorini (above), Marrakech & some pics of me for a challenge, made a layout with photos I took on my Diana camera, and made a few layouts with some favourite papers I’d been hoarding.

I planned:

Matt and I have been contemplating some big changes to our wedding plans. And by big I mean big – we’re thinking the other side of the world and about 5 months earlier than originally planned. I think we might be crazy! We’ll know for sure whether we’ll change our wedding plans this Autumn, when we visit the country we’re thinking of having it in to do some venue research. Very exciting, I’ll keep you posted!!

I dreamed of:

I’ve been dreaming of Autumn and thinking about where we might go this Christmas – although we won’t be spending it with our families it’s fun knowing that we can go anywhere we like. We’re throwing a few ideas around at the moment and tossing up between somewhere warmer or going somewhere very European and wintery.

Summer 2010 in numbers:

1 change of job

1 new bikini purchased

2 guests came to stay

2 30th Birthdays celebrated

10 cocktails consumed

10 swims in the pool/ocean

35 hours spent in the air flying

Well I think that sums up Summer 2010, It’s going to be so fun collecting four of these posts each year to look back on one day. I know some of these details won’t be interesting to anyone else but they’re a great record for me.

So how was your Summer 2010? Would love to know what you got up to!

I’ve been very very quiet on the blogging front over the last month or so – there’s been so so much going in my life! Our flat is a complete mess, the fridge is bare and my google reader is overflowing so it’s not just my blog that’s been missing my much-needed attention.

Here’s a quick list of everything that’s been happening in my world:

1. I started a new job almost exactly one month ago working in the e-commerce team for an amazing photography-related retailer. I love love love my new job and I’m just starting to feel settled and out of that awkward new job phase where you feel like an idiot and have to ask about a million questions a day. It’s so nice to look forward to going to work each day :)

2. Flew out to Brisbane, Australia to be Maid of Honour at the wedding of my dear friend Carmen – it was such a fleeting trip as I was only there 5 days which is insane (I barely got over the jetlag before I had to turn around and fly all the way back to London!!). The wedding was absolutely beautiful and she looked so amazing on the day.

3. And speaking of my trip to Australia, on my way there I bought Twilight at Heathrow airport, had finished it by the time we re-fuelled in Singapore, bought New Moon in Singapore airport, finished that in Aussie, bought Eclipse in Sydney before the flight home and finished that on the plane somewhere over Europe. I then proceeded to go straight out to my local book shop as soon as I got home to buy Breaking Dawn and read that in about 2 days. As you can see it was a pretty quick conversion to Twilight madness for me :)

4. We’ve had my Mother-in-Law-to-be staying with us for the last month – this was her first time to Europe so while she was in London we did lots of sightseeing and fun stuff with her including going to a couple of amazing shows.

5. We’ve also been on a couple of trips recently including Amsterdam, Italy, Ireland and we just got back from 6 days in the Greek Islands on Tuesday, phew! Have had such an amazing time and I have lots of fun stories and photos to share in the coming weeks. The photo above was taken in the beautiful island of Santorini, such an amazing place.

6. Last but not least, I finally decided to sign up to Twitter this week! I’d been holding back as I don’t actually have many friends who use it but I’ve been using it with work a lot recently and realised how fun it is! So, seeing as I have the huge number of 2 followers (I wasn’t kidding when I said none of my friends use it!) I’d love to make some more twitter friends, so if you’re on twitter I’d love to meet you :) My twitter name is @missnatwilliams.

So that’s all my news! I haven’t done any scrapping in SUCH a long time but I have so many photos from my travels so I won’t be short on topics. I have a bunch of new postcards so i’ll be adding them to my ‘Postcards From Me’ album sometime soon as well and will post the new additions :)

What’s new with you?

Sunday night already! Why oh why do the weekends go so fast?

Mine’s been pretty relaxing so far, here’s what I’ve been up to:

Baking vanilla cupcakes with chardonnay frosting, recipe courtesy of Enjoy Cupcakes via Style Me Pretty (so yummy!)…

Doing wedding research and being inspired by lots of pretty dresses – not sure how I’m ever going to choose!

Working on my Moroccan travel journal…

Getting very excited for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland & browsing Alice-themed pics (I wish I knew where to get this mug!!!)

Wishing you a wonderful week,

N x

No scrapbooking for me this week.

Not because I don’t want to, but because my bedroom (and desk) look like this…

And just before you thought I was a very messy girl who lives out of cardboard boxes, I must tell you I am moving house this week so everything is an absolute shambles.

I’m also slightly disturbed (but also smiling) to see how many wedding magazines I’ve accumulated in less than a year of being engaged. Even more impressive is that I have wedding magazines from a range of countries (UK, USA, New Zealand…) and some in languages I can’t even read (Spanish, Dutch…)!

Inspiration, or am I just a victim of the corporate juggernaut that is the wedding industry?

…Buying: I recently bought this print from Etsy that I stumbled across. Being the Fleetwood Mac fan that I am, I was sold when I saw the lyrics to ‘Landslide’ on it. Once I decide on the frame colour (black or white – what do you think?) then I’m hanging it somewhere I can see it while I scrap for some creative Stevie Nicks-esque inspiration…

…Reading: I am loving absolutely everything about Once Wed at the moment. I can’t remember how I found this site, but I can’t stop looking at all the gorgeous photos of real weddings. (Its ok, I’m a bride-to-be so I’m supposed to be looking at this stuff). I’m amazed and impressed with how much you can achieve with a little ingenuity and creativity (actually, make that a lot of creativity). If our wedding is half as beautiful as the ones on this site, I’ll be one happy bride!

…Listening to: Rabbit Heart by Florence & The Machine. I’m especially enjoying listening to it on the way to work – puts me in a good mood to start the day.

…Looking forward to: visiting the New Forest and taking lots of photos.

…Eating: White chocolate Tim Tams! For anyone not from New Zealand, these are delicious biscuits that are missed by many-a-kiwi living overseas. Luckily for me though, I was sent some in a package from home recently along with some Pineapple Lumps (I’ll explain about them another day). Please note I just ate the last Tim Tam in the packet whilst writing this. mmm.
